Fat Blog: 2008-02-25
Rachel and I have really started to re-evaluate our health. We have two children and we want to get healthy and stay healthy for them. We quit smoking and yesterday was our four month quite date anniversary. I have really put on a lot of weight, over the past two or three years, somewhere in the neighborhood of 60 to 80 pounds. Today, I’m going to start doing something about taking the weight back off and getting healthier. I have a three part plan for getting healthier. Nothing below is weird or out of the ordinary. Any doctor would probably give me the same advice, but I wanted to get it down so that it was on the record somewhere.
1) I’m going to get more exercise. I need this sorely since I work from home now and don’t get hardly any exercise at all. To do this I have designed a workout routine I can do while I’m in my office. This means I’m more likely to do it, and I can do it 5 days a week. I call it my “10 at 10″ and it consists of 10 reps, of 10 exercises, at 10 o’clock. These exercises are designed to work my legs, arms, abs, and chest muscles. It is a short workout that can be done in ten or fifteen minutes.
2) Start eating healthier. This one is going to be the toughest for me. I plan on taking it slow and working my way through it. My main goals here are to cut down on portion size and make better choices about the foods I eat. I’ve already started eating more fruits and the next step is to cut out the soda.
3) Become accountable for my health. I can’t get this done all by myself. Which makes this the most important part of the whole process. To do this, I’m going to start fat blogging daily after I exercise. If you do not see a fat blog post from me on a week day, please give me a hard time. Also, feel free to give me any encouragement you can.
