The Engagement
Church bells are ringing
and two hearts are singing.
Soon a wedding will be!
Cupids been scheming,
and fulfilled some dreaming
of one loved by you and me.For Rachel, joys linger.
Since on her ring finger
you will notice a diamond bright.
Lets give Rich the glory
of – Loves old sweet story -
and join in their special delight.
This is a poem by Dorothy German written for Rachel and I on our wedding. It was Mother’s Day 1938 when Dorothy had no money for a gift that she wrote her first poem for mother. She continued to give her poems as gifts. We have several. Dorothy has had a collection of her poems made into a book, To Touch With Love. Dorothy was a sweet old lady that attended our church. She passed away last week and we will miss her.
