Destruction Complete

We finished pulling off the wallpaper in the guest bedroom last night. Now all the desctruction is complete, and we can start to put things back together.

More construction

Here are some more photos of our construction projects.

Furnished Nursery
Guest Bedroom (Mid-construction)

Of course there are the obligatory cat pictures in there as well.

Nesting Phase

We’ve barely finished working on the nursery, actually we’re not even completely finished yet, and Rachel has already started work on another room. We started tearing the wallpaper off the guest bedroom earlier this week. One more wall to do, and we’ll be finished with the destruction. Then its patching drywall, painting, replacing the carpet, and putting up new trim. I know she just wants to get it all done before the baby comes. So would you call that nesting or is it still to early?

Finished…Almost

After spending all weekend working on the nursery, we are almost finished. Over the weekend, we painted, layed carpet, cut and stained trim, put up trim, and put in a closet organizer. All we have left to do is to put in the closet doors and put down a carpet bar. Check out the before and the after.

Mid Construction

Since my last post was about the work we were doing on the nursery, I thought I would post a link to how the nursery is looking mid construction.

Nursery

Rachel and I started working on the nursery this weekend. We tore the paneling off the closet to find this hideous wallpaper. It’s actually quit funny the things we have discovered as we’ve remodeled different rooms in the house. This is just one of the many things we’ve found. We got the window replace and the doorway to the closet expanded. Now we have some drywall and electrical work, then we will be ready to pant.

Nursery

Rachel and I bought the nursery furniture last week. You may remember I was complaining about shipping and handling. Luckily we found some furniture we liked at K’s Merchandise, so we didn’t have to pay any S&H.

Now we just need to actually start working on the nursery. We had originally talked about using the smallest of the extra bedrooms, but we’ve decided instead to use the bigger of the extra bedrooms. It doesn’t need nearly as much work, and there is more room to grow.

Shipping and Handling

Rachel and I started looking at baby furniture this week. Most retails stores don’t carry a lot of furniture in store, or have the furniture setup on display, so we were looking online.

We found a crib and dresser we liked, but the shipping and handling $240 dollars. There is no way I’m going to pay that much. That’s almost half the cost of the furniture itself.

I think we’ll start looking at furniture stores instead!!!

I just have to laugh…

If you read this regularly you have seen me chronicle the issues I’ve been having around the house lately. First, the gears in the garage door opener stripped. Then, my hard drive died in my computer. Then, my sump pump wouldn’t shut off. Do you think that was the end of my issues?

Earlier in the year I replaced the flooring in my bathroom. I was putting the trim back up on Thursday and put a nail in a pipe in the wall. You should have seen the waterfall. To top it off I was driving into work this morning and got a huge rock chip in my windshield. I thought these things were only suppose to happen in threes…

When it rains…

It pours. I guess its the time of year when everything decides its had enough. First, my garage door opener broke, then last week I lost the harddrive on my computer. Now, after raining all night my sump pump decided it didn’t want to shut off. Sure it didn’t cost me much to fix these thing, but the time and enough make it a real pain.
