This is a repost from Facebook. I figure a few more people will actual get a chance to see it on the blog.

Once you’ve been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it’s because I want to know more about you.

(To do this, go to “notes” under tabs on your profile page, paste these instructions in the body of the note, type your 25 random things, tag 25 people (in the right hand corner of the app) then click post.)

1. I make my living as a software engineer, however, I’m mainly self taught.

2. I’m currently working 3 jobs and putting together an estimate for a 4th.

3. I hope that I will not lose any of my jobs due to the current economic conditions. Although, I’ve been in this industry for over 10 years and I have never felt like my job was safe.

4. When I was a teenager I used to do odd construction jobs with my dad. I’ll always be grateful for him teaching me about a strong work ethic, how to hammer a nail, dry wall a room, or try to do something even when you don’t know how to do it.

5. I hope to instill the values in my sons that my dad instilled in me.

6. I regret the fact that I’m not closer to my dad, but I can’t imaging every hugging him or telling him that I love him.

7. I still have lead in my leg from being stabbed with a pencil in the first grade by Jennifer Tyler.

8. I believe that I was a fairly broken person after dropping out of college and finding Rachel saved me.

9. Rachel is the love of my life and I hope to spend all my remaining days with her.

10. I have an INTP personality type and I’m proud of it.

11. I grew up in the country and I’m ready to move back there so my children can have the same experience I had.

12. Rachel and I have bought 2 acres out in the country, but because of the economy, we are debating when to build our new house.

13. My most embarrassing moment occurred when I was swimming at Lake Ahquabi. A female life guard was pulling me up onto the raft, and my swimming suit fell down around my ankles. I don’t think I came out of the water for the rest of the day.

14. My favorite quote comes from the poem Ode on a Grecian Urn. “Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard are sweeter; therefore, ye soft pipes, play on;”

15. I’m a huge fan of mashups, the stranger the mashup the more I like it. I especially love “Acoustic Rap”.

16. I don’t really have a favorite movie or song anymore. It’s sad but for the most part I listen to podcasts or watch new releases on Netflix.

17. I’m registered as an independent but most of my political leanings are more libertarian than anything else.

18. Yes, I will cry at sad movies. I even cried a little at the end of Wall-E. Other than right now, I will never admit to it and you need to erase this fact from your memory.

19. I played football from second grade through junior high (middle school). In elementary I also wrestled, played basketball, and baseball. Football is the only sport I’m still a fan of and like to watch. I’m not a sports junky and I could care less about watching ESPN.

20. I’ve never felt like I was a good big brother. I sometimes wonder if the issues Randy has faced come from that fact.

21. I wish that I was closer to my siblings. It’s funny Chris is the farthest in age from me, but I’ve always thought I had the most in common with her.

22. I always have faith that things will be okay. Whenever, I’ve struggled with an issue I’ve held onto that faith and things have turned out to be okay.

23. While I was in college: I was a founding father of a Fraternity, I was the sergeant at arms, I was the recycling chair and president for my dorm floor. However, I was never able to make it to my class.

24. I’m a procrastinator. Why do anything today that can be done tomorrow?

25. I hate talking about emotions or myself. That has made putting this list together extremely difficult.

After getting the boys down for bed the other night. Rachel and I were watching tv and heard a thump from upstairs. We thought that it was possibly one of the boys falling out of bed, since that happens on occasion. However, we didn’t hear any crying. When we went to investigate this is what we found. Yes, he is sleeping soundly and didn’t wake up when I put him back in his bed. I guess he’s still getting used to his toddler bed.

Today is our anniversary. Rachel and I have been married for 10 years now. I have loved the last ten years and I am looking forward to the next ten. In retrospect, it’s amazing how our lives have changed in that timeframe.

We have lived in a trailer and a house, and we have now purchased land to build a new house. We plan on building in the spring, but may hold off until later depending on circumstances.

Our marriage went through four years of infertility and we now have two wonderful boys. Noah is 3 years old and unbelievable smart and Wyatt is 22 months and he is always trying to best his brother.

Rachel worked for Mercy hospital for several years as a CNA/PCT. During her pregnancy with Noah she experienced preterm labor, and has stayed at home since. I think her job as a stay at home mom is more challenging then her previous job could have ever been. There are good days and bad, but I don’t believe she would change things if she could.

I worked for Tone Brothers, Inc. for the first 8 years of our marriage. I’ve been working from home for AOL for almost two years, now. Originally I was hired to work on Netscape Navigator 9. When The Netscape homepage moved to Propeller and the browser project was discontinued I moved over to working on Propeller full time.

Not all the changes have been good ones. The years of infertility were especially trying. I do not think you can truly understand what a strain infertility puts on a marriage unless you go through it.

I’m two years past the 30 year old mark and rapidly approaching the 33rd. Rachel is almost ready to cross the 30 year mark herself. As such, the time has taken a toll on our health. I’ve especially struggled with my weight, having gained over 80 pounds since we married. Although, in the last year I’ve taken off 30 to 35 pounds of that.

We are sitting here watching home movies of the boys over the past three years, and it just reminds me how lucky we have been. We have had good times and bad in our marriage, but watching the boys as they have aged and moved from stage to stage, reminds me just what a blessing our lives and marriage has been.

I fell in love and married Rachel ten years ago. I love her more today then I did back then. These last 10 years have been amazing and I can only imaging what the next ten years hold.

Today Wyatt had his 18 month check up. Everything seems to be fine. He weighed 22 lbs 3oz (8th percentile) and his height was 31 3/4 in (45th percentile). His weight is a little low for his age, but it has been tracking that way since he was born. He has made every milestone except his speech. We aren’t overly concerned about the speech at this point, but it is something we will work with him on and make sure it develops.

As we were leaving we made appointments for Wyatt’s 2 year check up and Noah’s 3 year check up. It is hard to believe that those milestones are coming up so quickly.

This time was a little different. I had two little helpers to fetch me tools and crawl under the sink with me. Yes, they were in the way from time to time. And Yes, they did like laying on me or standing on me while I was laying on my back under the sink. It was still a great father and sons experience that I would never change in the world. They both had to go and get their toy tools to make sure we got the job done correctly! Noah really had a blast helping.

Recently we’ve been having a rough time with the boys sleeping habits. In the hopes of improving the situation, we started putting the boys down while they were awake and getting them to fall asleep on there own. Some time has also past since we took away their pacifiers.

This has greatly improved Noah sleeping habits. He now goes to sleep on his own and stays in bed until 5 or 6 in the morning. Wyatt still wakes up pretty early in the night, but he is improving. Here is hoping this improvement continues and we can all catch up on our sleep.

At one point we could put our youngest, Wyatt, in bed after having a sippy and he would fall asleep. Noah would go to sleep after rocking for a while and getting a story. Wyatt will only go to sleep if we rock him, now. He gets up in the night and cries until one of us sleeps with him. Noah will only go to sleep if we sit next to his bed. He gets out of bed and comes get in bed with us most nights. It has gotten especially bad since we have taken away the pacifiers.

So what is a good nighttime routine to get them back in the habit of going to bed by themselves and staying in bed?
