Formategory

Chris Finke is working on a Wordpress plugin that lets you specify a template for posts based on their category. It’s tentatively named Formategory (Format + Category). This looks like something I could use; hopefully he gets it done and releases it.

Unstyled Content

I’m working on a new theme for the website. I think the new theme will look pretty nice when its done, but as I’m testing out different things you may get a page that is unstyled and looks pretty ugly. Just check back later and you will probably get the correct style.

About Page

I’ve finally gotten around to filling out my about page. If you have a free second check it out and let me know what you think. I wanted to provide some information about me and the website, but I didn’t want there to be to much personal information. I think I struck a pretty good balance.

OpenID identity URL

I’ve now made richwklein.com an OpenID identity URL for myself. That means that for any website that can use OpenID for authentication, all I need to do is type in richwklein.com and I’m done. To do this I setup an account with MyOpenID. I then added 2 links to the header of my blog.

<link rel="openid.server" href="http://www.myopenid.com/server" />
<link rel=”openid.delegate” href=”http://richwklein.myopenid.com” />

That is all there is to it. This blog is now my “identity URL”.

You tube posts

I’ve been trying to post a video from YouTube onto this blog. I’ve tried three different times, and each time I get the message that the video will be posted shortly. The videos have never appeared. First why can’t youtube do this more interactively instead of in batch later in the day. Second, if there is a problem, let me know about it. Do not just fail silently!

Moved: Development Ideas

I’ve gotten the development ideas section moved over to the new website. It is no longer available on the old website. I noticed it’s been a long time since I’ve added anything to it. I’ll have to remember to be more active in writing down my ideas. If you are interested in my development ideas go ahead and check out the page. Leave me a comment if you have any suggestions, etc…

Moving Content

I’ve gotten most of the content moved over from the old site to the new site. I haven’t gotten it all though so some pages will be missing until I do. Expect to see the site change drastically over the next couple of weeks as I get the content moved over.

Long Time

Holy cow it has been a long time since I’ve posted. I’m not even sure anyone still looks at this thing anymore. Here is kind of a run down of what’s been happening for those of you who do.

Work for Netscape is going well. I’m really enjoying the work I’m doing. Checkout the teaser stories to see some of the information about the new browser.

I’m preparing to get version 0.9.5 of Forecastfox out by the end of the week barring any unforseen issues.

Everyone in the house is sick. The boys have bronchialitis, so I’m sure that’s what Rachel and I have too. It’s really hard with Wyatt being so young and not really wanting to eat. He’ll be 3 months next week. It’s amazing how fast time goes, but it seems like I don’t remember a time before he was here.

I’ve been wanting to make some changes to this website. I would like to move away from blogger.com and host my own. I would also like to start integrating some of the cool APIs Netscape provides into the blog. Hopefully, I can start to do that in the next couple of months.

Forecastfox is a Firefox extension that lets you get international weather forecasts from AccuWeather.com, and display it in any toolbar or statusbar.

Resume

I’ve been working on updating my resume lately, so I decide to put a link to it on the site. The link is located in the right hand sidebar.
