We have released version 9.0.0.5 of Netscape Navigator. This is a security release to bring in changes from Firefox 2.0.0.11. You can get it at browser.netscape.com. The official announcement can be found on blog.netscape.com; the Propeller discussion is here.
Since everyone else is glowing about the new design coming up for Propeller, I thought I would put my 2 cents in. I’m really digging the look. I think our users are going to love the new layout. This is just going to put Propeller on a whole different level than anyone else and I can’t wait for everyone else to be able to see it.

Today we released version 9a1 of Netscape Messenger. This release is the first public alpha of Netscape Messenger 9, a mail and news client, to complement the Netscape Navigator Web browser. Last night we released Navigator 9 Release Candidate 1. You can catch the original announcement at blog.netscape.com. There are lots of changes since Beta 3. Below are some of the notable changes:
Added splash screen
Removed social news integration
Exposed more preferences in the Preference Dialog for tabs and the mini-browser
Moved custom FTP style out of userContent.css
Added URL correction preferences to Advanced Preferences page
Added drop-down menu to print button
Added drop-down menu to home button
Added Firefox profile importing
Added support for importing Netscape 8 bookmarks after the initial install

I posted earlier there were some big changes coming for the Netscape website. Well, this morning the “Social News Experience” moved to its new home at Propeller.com and Netscape.com became a traditional portal. The official announcement is on the Netscape blog. The announcement was made last night that the Netscape site is getting rebranded as a portal site instead of a social news site. The social news site is moving to a new domain and browser development is continuing unabated. The Netscape Blog has the original news release. Check it out.
